Hi Blockbuster,
I'm the developer of DevalVR plugin. Sorry, I don't know to write in German language, I'm spanish and only can write in English (and not so well). If it's necessary, I could search a friend to translate my messages in the future.
I thought about this 'Firefox warning' and maybe I know the reason. You used 'update now' option in the plugin, is it true?
This is the mechanism to update plugin in Firefox with old DevalVR versions:
1. "npdevalvr.dll" is the working plugin in "Plugins" Firefox folder
2. Viewer checks for a new version of the plugin, if a new version exists then step 3
3. Viewer downloads the new 'npdevalvr.dll' file and replaces it (overwrite) in 'Plugins' folder of Firefox
4. When Firefox restarts the new 'npdevalvr.dll' file will be used
This old scheme requires an 'overwrite file' function that sometimes does not work correctly.
I changed the update mechanism few time ago to avoid to overwrite the file. This is the new process:
1. "npdevalvr.dll" is the working plugin in "Plugins" Firefox folder
2. Viewer checks for a new version of the plugin, if a new version exists then step 3
3. Viewer downloads the new 'npdevalvr.dll' file, renames it to 'npdevalvr_.dll' and copies the new file in 'Plugins' folder of Firefox
4. When Firefox restarts, the 'npdevalvr_.dll' file will be used because Firefox uses the most recent file if two files exist for same plugin
For the next update:
1. "npdevalvr_.dll" is the working plugin in "Plugins" Firefox folder, viewer deletes "npdevalvr.dll" file from this folder
2. Viewer checks for a new version of the plugin, if a new version exists then step 3
3. Viewer downloads the new "npdevalvr.dll" and copy the file in "Plugins" folder of Firefox
4. When Firefox restarts the file "npdevalvr.dll" will be used because Firefox uses the most recent file, "npdevalvr_.dll" file will be deleted
I think it's possible that this new update process did not work correctly for you, Firefox does not use the most recent file, and show the message 'illegal action'. This is a very strange error. Can you check if you have these two files ("npdevalvr_.dll" and "npdevalvr.dll") in your "Plugins" folder of Firefox installation?
To check this new installation process you can test this experiment (only for Firefox):
1. Install this plugin (0,4,4,0 version)
http://www.devalvr.com/instalacion/plugi…valvru_0440.exe
2. Close Firefox and restart with any DevalVR page, for example:
http://www.devalvr.com/paginas/productos/sequencer.html .
3. You can see 0,4,4,0 version in context menu, select "Update now" in the menu
4. Plugin downloads the new version and restarts page automatically, to restart firefox is not required anymore
5. You can see latest plugin version version in context menu
I hope this help you. Sorry by this looooong message :-)
best regards
fiero
